Patricia Miller
I AM Trish
Describe your art.
As per my normal, I am currently using many mediums. These mediums include oil and/or acrylic paint on canvas with the underpainting sometimes containing paper or textured using molding paste and are in various sizes. My favorites are 24"x36 or larger, Other than canvases, I also paint on denim and am working on some skirts, and these will come as I see what works. Jean jackets are what I have painted on the most and sold the most. I have sold two commissioned jackets that were personalized per the customer's wishes, one was a portrait of someone they loved that had passed and the other was of the lady's two dogs, use Speedball ink and heat set the jackets to make them wearable and washable The lions, I create, have hand sewn manes which are actual synthetic dreadlocks sewn into the jacket. I prefer to upcycle jackets, but that is not always possible.
Who or what inspires you?
God. Period. I see. I feel. I am in touch and know without a doubt the realness, the love. It is meditative to create, and I have always lost time while doing so. I have to set an alarm, if I do not have unlimited time to work that day. I tell people that "you are never more like your creator than when you create".
What is your favorite medium to work with?
Oil Paint on a Large Canvas 30x40, but I ABSOLUTELY love to experiment with different mediums and techniques and even make up my own
What's a fun fact about you?
I work in NJ on the weekends as a respiratory therapist (long story). I am a mother of 4 sons and a grandmother of 1 girl and 1 all-boy. All live in Scottsboro. I lived in Scottsboro until I was 20, and even then, I just moved to Hollywood. Most of my life as of yet was spent in Jackson County, Alabama.
I only ever want to create from that love energy that connects us all, and if that turns into something that others love and want to keep. a piece of, then so be it. As I create, my soul glows. I believe everyone has it within them to create, it merely must be remembered and possibly nurtured through love into existence once more.
